The most versatile of all the mechanics!

A true all-rounder, a polymechanic manufactures tools and parts, as well as installing and commissioning machinery. They program, check and assemble devices, machines or robots. They are an expert in full-scale mechanics at the cutting edge of modernity.

Polymechanics are involved in every stage of the creation process for a product or machine. They begin by devising a prototype with the help of computer-aided design (CAD) software, before making the object in real life. This means working with metal, steel, aluminium, plastic or other materials with the utmost care, with tools ranging from the humble screwdriver to more complex machinery, from traditional equipment to computer-controlled 3D printers, as well as all manner of precision tools.

Polymechanics meticulously draw up a list of the necessary materials and supplies, evaluate the time needed for production, and calculate the costs as efficiently as possible. They then commence the functional tests, inspect the parts and write the operating instructions for the system. After this, it is time to deliver the equipment and install it at the customer's premises. The polymechanic makes sure to explain how to operate and maintain the equipment. They may also be required to carry out repairs.

With a keen mind, a curious nature and a good grasp of technical English, polymechanics constantly strive to keep their skills and knowledge up to date with technical developments, as well as implementing their own innovative measures on a regular basis. Their skills unite the fields of mechanics, IT and electrotechnical engineering. They are familiar with the rules of hygiene, safety and environmental protection, and follow them consistently in their daily work.

The range of possible jobs and potential work environments is virtually unlimited. Polymechanics can be found in sectors as varied as the medical and surgical field, watchmaking, the chemical and food industries, the automotive sector, railways, optics or even agriculture. They work independently and cooperate with other professionals depending on the project at hand. They have regular, daytime working hours.
