Protecting buildings and preventing ingress
With an excellent knowledge of the properties of materials and sealing components, the task of the buildings insulator is to protect the walls of buildings and structures, whether new or destined for renovation: walls, roofs, terraces, tunnels and tanks. They prepare surfaces before applying non-permeable coatings (asphalt, synthetic resin) or heat insulation (glass wool, composite materials). They study drawings, provide the necessary materials and perform installation on site.
This physically demanding profession is carried out in SMEs in the building sector, with the buildings insulator working outdoors, on scaffolding, sometimes exposed to high temperatures (when using mastic asphalt) and dependent on the weather conditions.
Skills required: manual dexterity – great physical stamina – good balance – adherence to safety regulations
