The craftsman of the wall
Bricklayers build, modernise or renovate the structure of a building, i.e. its foundations, walls and partitions. They are able to work on a wide range of projects thanks to their knowledge of different materials – brick, stone, blocks, reinforced concrete (formwork, reinforcement, casting), prefabricated panels. Bricklayers can be found on all building sites, whether involving construction or civil engineering, residential homes, blocks of housing or offices, public or commercial buildings, bridges, viaducts, dams and retaining walls
Working outdoors and dependent on the weather conditions, they demonstrate their versatility on small building sites. On large-scale projects, the bricklayer will often perform specific tasks in cooperation with other trades in the construction sector: buildings insulators, façade fitters, electricians, carpenters, etc.
Skills required: good physical condition – thoroughness – precision – versatility – good sense of balance
